Q&A:

  • I had a wonderful mentor in Sports Medicine classes in high school that inspired me to help do more for young athletes. Having had the opportunity to work with our senior boys Rugby team I witnessed a number of injuries that I felt could have been dealt with better as we only had basic training. The most significant injury being a spinal injury where the athlete had a severe lack of sensation. From this experience I wanted to find a way to help better the experience for younger athletes. This lead me on my path today.

Although I don’t work field events I feel that there is still a strong purpose in what I do in my clinic every day. I get to help active adults reach their goals and be able to participate in sport for the long term. Being an avid ringette player myself, and continuing to play in my adulthood, I have a clear understanding of how people identify themselves in a sport setting. I am very fortunate to have had my mentor who was able to inspire me to create change in this world and we can one person at a time.

  • Trust the process! Every body is different and not everyone recovers the same way. What works for one may not work for you, focus on progress not perfection.

  • That they didn’t know about it sooner and what we can do to help.

  • Being able to bring one client from having to be transported by a friend because they couldn’t sit and watching their progress to the point where they have told me where I helped save their life.

  • My colleagues would probably call me the crazy dog lady. I currently have 7 dogs that live with me! Just a back story, my family and I breed and show Shiba-Inius throughout Canada. Any questions about dogs? Bring them on!
