Q&A:

  • When I was about 5 years old, I was sitting on my dad's lap watching hockey. The Edmonton Oilers were playing the Calgary Flames and the trainer for one of the teams ran out on the ice to assist an injured player. I looked up at my dad and told him "I want to be that guy one day!".

I always enjoyed sports and participated in sports throughout my entire life. Upon experiencing my own sport and activity-related injuries, I was inspired to learn how to identify and manage them. I also wanted to help others with their own injuries; I like seeing people get better!

  • Get Active. Be Active. Stay Active.
Pick activities you enjoy so that you stick with them!

  • The amount of volunteerism involved with major events and national sport organizations with very little monetary compensation to therapists for the skill set and scope of practice that is required.

  • One of my proudest moments as an AT was working with Canadian figure skating legend Patrick Chan and being rink side when he won his Men's World Championship title in 2011 in Russia...he gave me his winning bouquet of flowers as a "Thank You" for the support I provided to him that event.
