Q&A:

  • My education journey started with a Personal Fitness Trainer Diploma from NAIT. I enjoyed everything I did there but felt like I wanted more. I then attended MacEwan University and obtained a Massage Therapy Diploma. At this point I really missed working with athletes and then looked into Athletic Therapy. I was accepted into Camosun College Bachelor of Athletic and Exercise Therapy program and this turned out to be the right spot for me. Growing up I was an athlete playing a variety of sports and when I attended NAIT I played on the mens volleyball team. I got the chance to work with some of the Athletic Therapists there to help with my own injuries I was going through. My goal with athletic therapy is to work with younger athletes (14-21yr olds) to help educated them from an earlier age and they can take the information and use it for the rest of their life.

  • You need to find what works for your body. Everyone is different and we all respond different to therapies. You need to find what works for you and explore other options and therapists.

  • When talking with other health care professionals they don't realize how large our scope of practice is.

  • My proudest moments come from educating athletes about their bodies. How they are put together and how they work and why they may be experiencing pain and discomfort.

  • I taught skiing and snowboarding for 10 years, coached volleyball for 10 years. Life goal is to be able to travel to a new country every year.
