Q&A:

  • After tearing my ACL during a rugby game at 14, I felt completely lost and had more questions than answers - What's happening? What does it all mean? What's an ACL? I need surgery?! Could I have prevented it? Will it go back to normal? During this time I strongly wished that I had someone knowledgeable in the field who could answer my questions, help me understand my injury and more importantly, help me get back on the pitch. It was then that I decided to become that someone for somebody else.

  • You don't need to be injured to take of your body, there are a lot of things you can do proactively to prevent avoidable injuries from happening in the first place.

  • People always think AT's only work with athletes and at sporting events, so often they're surprised to find out that we treat people from all walks of life and that we also treat in a clinical setting.

  • One accomplishment I'm proud of is being the first female AT to work with CFL's Calgary Stampeders and opening this door to other female AT's in Alberta.

  • My name in my first language (Azeri - I am from Azerbaijan) sounds very different than it does in English and means the brightest star in the sky.
